How to change/update your date of birth in the EPF account because it is incorrectly entered in the PF account? This blog post explains the steps to change date of birth in EPF UAN online.
It is always advisable to cross-check your DOB entered in your EPF account. If your DOB is not correct in your PF account, then it creates a problem at the time of PF withdrawal.
Hence, you should correct it online at the earliest. Here is the procedure to correct date of birth (DOB) in EPF UAN online.

Documents accepted as valid proof of Date of Birth
Recently, the EPFO has issued revised instructions through a circular dated 03.04.2020 on the subject “Change of Date of Birth of EPF/EPS members” to its field offices. Any of the following documents may be accepted as valid proof of DOB in case of any dispute.
1. The Birth Certificate issued by Registrar of Births and Deaths.
2. Any School/Education related certificate.
3. Certificate based on the service records of the Central/State Government Organizations.
4. Any other reliable documents issued by a government department.
5. In the absence of proof of DOB as above, a Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon after examining the member medically and supported with an affidavit on oath by the member duly authenticated by a Competent Court.
6. Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar: The change in DOB shall be accepted as per Aadhaar/e-Aadhaar up to a maximum range of plus or minus of 3 years of the DOB recorded earlier with EPFO.
How to change date of birth in EPF UAN online?
Now you can change/update your date of birth in your PF account online. You can do it through the UAN member portal. Let us now go through the procedure to correct DOB in EPF UAN online.
1. Visit the UAN member portal. Log in to the account with your UAN number and password.
2. Once you have logged in, go to the “Manage” tab in the dashboard. Then click on the option “MODIFY BASIC DETAILS”.
3. Then, first of all, enter your Aadhaar number. Next, you need to enter your DOB as per your Aadhaar records.
4. Next, click on the “Update Details” tab to forward your correction request. This will forward it to your employer for approval. Your employer needs to approve your correction request.
5. Note that you can delete the request by pressing the “Delete Request” tab before your employer can approve the request.
This is how you can forward the request to change date of birth in EPF UAN online. However, if your Aadhaar is linked and verified (DEMOGRAPHIC) with your UAN then you are not allowed to change the details. You will get a message as below.
Process followed by the Employer
Once you submit the correction request, your employer will follow the following process.
1. The employer will log in to the Employer Interface of Unified Portal (https://unifiedportal-emp.epfindia.gov.in/epfo/).
2. The employer can view the date of birth change requests submitted by you by clicking on “Member>Details Change Request”.
3. The employer can view your date of birth update request and can take the required action by giving the proper remark.
4. After approval of the correction request, the employer can view the latest status of the request.

Process followed by the EPFO Field Office
After approval of the correction request by your employer, the EPFO field office will follow the following process.
1. The request will appear as a task in the login of Dealing Hand, of concerned EPFO office, in the Field Office Interface of the Unified Portal.
2. Dealing Hand can open the online change requests by clicking “Member>Details Change Request”.
3. Dealing Hand submits the recommendations to the Section Supervisor after appropriate verification.
4. Here, the Dealing Assistant can put your DOB correction request either for approval or rejection with proper remarks.
5. Now, the Section Supervisor can submit the recommendations to APFC/RPFC.
6. The APFC/RPFC can approve or reject the correction request.
