How to correct Name, Date of Birth & Gender in PF Account online?
Now you can update/change your name, date of birth and gender through online mode. You can do these changes through UAN member portal. You can correct name, date of birth and gender in your EPF UAN online as per Aadhaar.
Note that if your Aadhaar is linked and verified (DEMOGRAPHIC) with your UAN then you can’t change these details. You will get a message as “Aadhaar is already verified. Your details aren’t editable”. You can see the screenshot of the message below.

Requirements to make changes in PF Account online
You can make changes online and you need the following four things.
1. Active UAN
2. Access to the unified member portal
3. You must have Aadhaar
4. Your employer needs to forward your request online to EPFO.
The process for correction in PF Account online
The EPF updating process takes place at three levels
1 – Update request by the EPF member,
2 – Approval by the employer and
3 – Process followed at EPFO field office
EPF UAN correction online: Steps to be followed by the EPF member
Visit UAN member portal. Click here.
1. Log in with your UAN number and password.
2. Once you have logged in, go to the “Manage” tab in the dashboard. Then click on “BASIC DETAILS” option.
3. Next screen, you need to enter your correct details as per your Aadhaar records (System will verify the entered details with UIDAI – Aadhaar Data).
4. Click on “Update Details” button to forward your correction request.
5. On clicking “Update Details” tab your change request is forwarded to the employer for approval. Your employer needs to approve it. Before employer approval, you can withdraw your update request by pressing “Delete Request” tab.
EPF UAN correction online: Steps to be followed by the Employer
Once your correction request submitted successfully, your employer will follow the below process.
1. Your employer will log in to Employer Interface of Unified Portal.
2. The employer can view the change requests submitted by you by clicking on “Member>Details Change Request”.
3. The employer can view the online requests received from you and can take required action by giving the proper remark.
4. The employer can view the latest status of the request after approval of the request.
EPF UAN correction online: Steps to be followed at EPFO Field Office
Once your correction request approved by your employer, the EPFO field office will follow the below process.
1. Once approved by your employer, your request will appear as a task in the login of Dealing Hand, of concerned EPFO office, in the Field Office Interface of the Unified Portal.
2. Dealing Hand can log in to his/her account and open the online change requests by clicking “Member>Details Change Request”.
3. After appropriate verification Dealing Hand submits his/her recommendations to the Section Supervisor.
4. At this level, the Dealing Assistant can put your correction request either for approval or rejection by selecting the appropriate button with proper remarks.
5. Now, the Section Supervisor can submit his/her recommendations to Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC)/Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC).
6. Finally, APFC/RPFC can approve or reject the case.
How to correct your Name/Correction in EPF Account offline?
You can also opt for the offline process and make correction in the PF account. Here is the complete offline method of the PF name change and correction in the EPF account.
The offline method of correction in EPF account requires a joint declaration form EPF from you and your employer. The EPF joint declaration form then submitted to the EPFO along with suitable supporting documents. The requested correction will be made once the correction form is submitted.

There is a prescribed format for EPF joint declaration form (PF name correction form). The PF joint declaration form (EPF Correction Form) is a document in the form of a letter. Here is a sample of EPF name change / correction form (PF Correction Form) as shown in the image below.
In this PF joint declaration form, you need to fill the address of the Regional PF Commissioner, your name, and your company name. You also need to fill the correct and wrong particulars in the form. Only fill columns that need to be corrected. Leave all other columns blank.
